Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Ted Kennedy: What I Remember About Him

Posted 08-28-2009 at 02:04 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I've been alive for 43 years and have probably spent more than 40 of them watching the news on TV. As long as I've seen politics on the tube for all those years, there has been one constant on the national political scene more than anyone I've seen. That man is none other than Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy, who had been a high-visibility figure when it comes to national politics. We've spent time reflecting and remembering his life and his career in the short few days since his passing...

Reege And Ten Years Of "Millionaire"

Posted 08-19-2009 at 09:03 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It became an American institution almost immediately. There was such an obsession with this game where one contestant out of ten gets an opportunity to answer fifteen questions ranging from easy-peasy to difficult in pursuit of one big prize: one million dollars.

And the fellow who hosts this program on ABC is a guy who has been around for a number of years. Hard to believe that on that same ABC network forty years ago, he was the sidekick on Joey Bishop's late-night...

Try This Healthy Arrangement: Cool, Fresh Fruit

Posted 08-19-2009 at 08:23 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

When you think of summer food, oftentimes, you typically think of a charbroiled beef patty sizzling over an open flame. And that sounds pretty good when I am thinking about it, be it on a toasted hamburger bun with mustard, or all by itself with a heaping scoop of onion and mushroom gravy.

But summer is also the season for all things chilled, too. Such was the case when I got three things from Market Street that intrigue me. They just taste really good together...

A Midsummer Night's Nightmare.......Almost

Posted 08-12-2009 at 08:18 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You've heard the phrase, "Now, I've seen everything," haven't you? Well, this C-D poster is about to utter that very phrase now, because he doesn't believe what he currently sees in his apartment right now.

I'm just simply trying to stay cool in my apartment, that's all. Ceiling fans are running. I have a floor fan in my bedroom, and it is running. I've got my AC going..........but there is a problem, boys and girls. The air is running, ...

Even More Scattershooting / That Sultry Texas Heat

Posted 08-08-2009 at 01:38 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Greetings and a big "Howdy" to all of you good readers once again, while we go all over the place once again on Case's Column. While you're doing that, go grab you a cold one out of the fridge, because we've got to stay cool.

********

It is August in the state of Texas. To a lot of people, that only means one thing: It's so freaking hot out there! We've got more storylines than a Tennessee Williams play. The air conditioning...
