Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

January 1, 2024 – Exhortation

Posted 01-01-2024 at 12:41 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

You may think of fall and winter as seasons to let go and let things die. Much of the world can look barren after the trees have shed and the world gets cold and dark. But a season of shedding for one person can be a season of blossoming for another.

You may have watched those around you bloom and flourish, while you remained hidden and buried. However, it wasn't your season; it was theirs. You may feel like you've missed your moment, like you've been forgotten, or been left behind....

Exercising Faith In Praying For Your Loved Ones

Posted 01-01-2024 at 12:09 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

"Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb?" saith thy God. Isaiah 66:7-9

Adversity To Victory

Posted 12-31-2023 at 09:15 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Matthew 6:13 - "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

There is no temptation or sin in heaven. This prayer does not imply that God wants to tempt us. We know from James 1:13 that it is impossible for God to entice us to sin.

This kind of praying is important because it requires us to face our need for grace. It helps us to align our heart with heaven -- one of absolute dependency on God.

Advancing My Faith

Posted 12-31-2023 at 03:13 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Romans 10:17 - "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing, by the word of God."

Observation:

IF I WANT TO KEEP ADVANCING MY FAITH, I HAVE TO BE PLANTED.

I PLANT MYSELF IN THE WORD (THROUGH AFFIRMATION, MEDITATION, AND SEEING MYSELF IN THE WORD) AND IN A PLACE WHERE THE WORD IS PREVALENT AND THE PEOPLE AROUND ME ARE CONTINUALLY SPEAKING AND LIVING IT.

2 Corinthians 3:18 - "But we all, with open face...

Achieving The Unachievable

Posted 12-31-2023 at 11:38 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Exodus 14:16 - "But lift up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children if Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”

God generally doesn't call us to do things we can accomplish in our own ability. He calls us to achieve the unachievable and accomplish the impossible.

Mark 4:3,8 - "Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow his seed. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and...
