Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

It's Rainy Tonight In Dallas

Posted 06-28-2008 at 07:27 PM by case44

Whoa! What's this?? Where's all my sunshine gone to?? Did I hear some meteorologist utter the words "cold front" in the latter part of June? Maybe in your part of Texas, things are sunny and warm now, but in North Texas tonight (the night of June 28), the skies have actually opened up a bit. Lots of lightning out there, and it's a wonder I have not had a power outage here today. Or, for that matter, my computer hasn't been struck by lightning yet (and sometimes, deservedly so).

So tonight, things are all wet outside and maybe that's a good thing. I have not heard of any drought conditions in my area, but it doesn't matter. We can take the rain any day, because you never know if it could be our last for a couple months. August, you know, is coming. I just don't want it raining too much -- it would disrupt all the construction workers' quests to get all the new offices, shopping centers, restaurants, and houses built. It would be nice if the thunder and lightning were more quiet and the rain softer and longer-lasting. Too bad I don't have a significant other right now. The moments like these would have just been too perfect. Will the rain stay around?

Naaaah. Watch things clear up later and when I wake up tomorrow, I just might see a gorgeous sunrise. Life does have its rewards, doesn't it??

Well, you were right. It's sunny this morning ...at least in the part of Dallas area where I am! We could use a little rain, but may not get it today. I think Celebrate Freedom is going on over in Frisco still today...so maybe that's a good thing it doesn't rain.

    Have a great Sunday, case44!

When did they move Celebrate Freedom to Frisco, kaykay? I thought they were still doing it at Southfork Ranch.

It's good to hear you're getting rain. With those warm days down there, you can use it. AND at least it's not snow. Haha

What type of entertainment do they have a your Celebrate Freedom party?

The rain took place back on Saturday. We've got sunny skies here now as we go into July.

And this aside. Celebrate Freedom is a just a Christian series of mega-concerts and it meets in an outdoor large-gathering place. Apparently, they've moved the event to another place in D/FW after many years at Southfork Ranch near Murphy. Details are at: www.klty.com

They moved it this year. I heard because the field was too muddy last year and got really messed up by all the cars driving in the mud!
