It Wasn't Just Black Ice

Posted 02-14-2014 at 02:39 PM by Fortoggie

SOFT SNOW / HARD TIMES: For me, mostly retired the soft fluffy snow was just a nice change of scenery an excuse for a quite neighborhood to become even quieter. But then a business friend called this morning; he was on his way to open his business after being closed two days. He had lost two days of production and his employees had lost two days of wages and today was pay day for the staff. However it was the losses that his business friends had endured that was on his mind. Always someone with a built in calculator between his ears he was adding up the costs. There was the fellow whose delivery truck got into a fender bender. The florist who had many orders to send to teachers at school on Valentines day; the schools are closed. Now what? There was a whole litany of small businesses having a hard time trying to cope with soft snow.

Stark contrast with what folks on the East Coast had to experience the last four days. You should be glad to be where you are.
