More Deadly S**t In My Country. Frustrated, Not Scared.

Wondering about Ebola, with a second diagnosed case (at this writing) and trying not to make my concerns too political. I'll yell at my opponents some other day, this is about national security.

Be worried "if"...and it's a huge if...the countries with major outbreaks start much more radical measures to "contain" themselves from spread of this disease. Guessing that would only happen if things are raging, out of control. Hope it doesn't come to that. I do not know if it will, because I'm not a medical professional.

Like presumably millions of my fellow citizens in the United States, however, I am starting to become mildly upset "the Government" is not taking big steps, early-on, to head this off in MY country. When the usual suspects (agitators from the private sector) start in on how this is a "racist conspiracy," I mostly stop listening to anything any of them say.

Sending teams to the hot zone is great. I realize that's the humane thing to do. If they do more good than harm, that's great. Good use of tax dollars. Dealing with a Level 4 pathogen in a fetid, tropical hell must test limits of endurance beyond-breaking, truly.

If it all seriously starts going to hell in two or three months, over there, time to pull everything out. Again, that's worst-case thinking. Stay, however, as long as we're helping contain it AND keeping Americans safe.

We're about a half-dozen/dozen cases in the U.S., "perhaps" Texas specifically, away from public pressure shutting a lot of the BS and lies down, however. People will be in the streets with pitchforks. Should that occur, let's instead we use our vaunted tracking abilities to stop butt-cold anyone coming in from those areas. No more flights. No more anything. Wonder if it will come to that, again it's worst-case but I'm tired of cutesy explanations without real solutions being offered. Most of what I'm reading about is "we didn't know, buh hhuh uhuh uhuhuh uhuh" and finger-pointing by people who would probably screw up management of a 1-car parade. This is a five nines, six sigma kind of business. Failure isn't an acceptable outcome.
