Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Never Sausage A Situation? HEB Grocers Put Up More Links

Posted 07-04-2020 at 08:58 PM by case44

I was just doing a little browsing during a 4th of July road trip (I can explain that part later), and I couldn't help but notice the meat sections at an HEB grocery store in Round Rock, Texas. In Central Texas, where smoked sausage is king, the sight beholden could not be more true.

HEB has an incredible and very in-depth selection.............of smoked sausage. Granted, it's an HEB-Plus from the larger series, so you can expect a few more things than the average HEB. This particular place, however, has more smoked sausage than you can.............well, shake a stick at. I kid you not. This is more than any store I've seen. Think of what the normal amount would be in the average grocer. Now, multiply that figure by about ten. That's right; that's what you would see at this HEB. They've got the store brands, but they also have a lot of regional fixtures like Slovacek, Kiolbassa, Meyer's, Southside Market, Holmes, Hillshire Farm, Eckrich, Zummo's, V&V, Bar S, Opa's, and Hill Country Fare. Astonishingly, nothing from Smokehouse or Nolan Ryan.

Still, though, it's a whale of a selection, and Central Texans are so lucky. Oh, I ended up buying something, but it wasn't sausage. It was..............Clorox splashless bleach. I had a hard enough time finding it in Dallas, but I could find it near Austin??
