Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Inland Water And Little Lakes

Creations of earth do get amazing, don't they? Depending on where you live, it seems like more and more people are developing fancy, new neighborhoods, with many new homes, designs, and landscaping. To go along with that, something else is included in the mix. Developers these days sure do have wild obsessions with small lakes and canals. I've seen them popping up in new locations throughout Texas, including where I live, the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They're seemingly everywhere now. Bodies of water. Man-made, too. There's nothing wrong with that at all. We're created to create, aren't we?? It's just that these designs conjure up the feel of being seaside, or near some kind of bay.
Developers are just getting more crafty these days and the art of putting new things together in great harmony is not lost at all. In fact, it may actually be getting a lot better. The hyphenated word master-planned has turned into some sort of household word. What do you look at in a small lake or pond?? What do you see?? I see images of resort living. It feels like one. And they look good, especially when they're clean. I especially like see the light reflection off the water when the sun shines really bright. But it is so fascinating that the auspices of nature can be refreshingly felt right in the modern way we live today. Pretty soon, any town that grows into a city will likely be master-planned. What's funny is it used to not be that way. I like to look at Frisco, Texas as a model for modern cities that plan, but they are certainly not the only one. Just add a little water, and you've got natural ingredients to do greater things.
The next time you head for your favorite body of water, be it a lake or a river, think about your connections. Maybe you know somebody that has a little lake or pond in his/her new neighborhood. Sit by the water. Sip some iced tea. Feed some ducks. See the kiddos splash. Or you can do like I sometimes do: Just pause, reflect, and look at it.

It's really amazing what you can do with a little bit of inland water when you build apartments or homes. It just adds to the experience.
