What is the status on potentially creating a forum or sub-forum specifically related to LGBT issues? I just replied to another thread on the General U.S. forum about "Best Place for a Gay Man to Live?" Furthermore, I've responded to many members' inquiries via DM or e-mail regarding LGBT issues---some of which were more personal in nature than others. There's even a fellow gay college student pondering moving to Scranton. Like it or not we ARE part of this forum and nation, and we SHOULD be able to discuss issues pertaining to the law, "coming out" counseling, parenting, hate crimes, bullying, relationships, marriage/civil unions, etc. within the gay/lesbian community. In the past I was chastised by right-wing members for posting threads about the LGBT community on the Politics & Other Controversies forum because they "didn't want to hear about it," so if we're not welcome to post such issues there, then where DO they belong? Nowhere, apparently, just as how we have no place in the American legal system...(okay...I'll cut myself off before going into a rant). Thanks.

Thanks, otr. If people "don't want to hear about it," then I'll just have to keep on yakking and tell them "tough fish sticks!"

I think it would just turn into a big slugfest with all the christians and homophobes. At this point in the game (meaning adults) you aren't going to change anyone's mindset about gay issues.

On the other hand, even on specific topic/issue forums there are major online disagreements. Example, if you go to a christian forum or even a specific denomination such as a catholic forum, you will find lots of opposing viewpoints.

Not if it was properly moderated...

No... but it goes back to "proper moderation" IMO it shouldn't be a section to debate "Homosexuality", but instead an area to find information, discuss issues and even find kindred souls without fear of reprisal.

I also call myself Christian, and I have friends and family who happen to be Gay/Lesbian. Yes, I was part of the 12.65% who voted FOR LGBT Issues ...

Perhaps it could be added as a sub-section of the Relationships Forum? Not an ideal solution, but it would be a nice start.
