Yes they will relocate you to Anchorage. In addition many Native Corps will do the same. You may have to pay it back if you leave shortly after arriving but typically they will move you up lock stock and barrel so to speak. I know Manillaq in Kotz does as well as Bethel. That way you get back for free.

I was in Beaumont just before Hurricane Rita went through that place. I'm glad I don't have any reason to go back!

Yeah, Beaumont, man... that's rough as hell for a person better suited to Barrow. I would do that stuff AADAD is talking about and get yourself relocated up to Kotzebue or Bethel or even Anchorage ASAP man, that's where you should be. I can tell from your posts that you just don't belong in Texas. Of course, by my way of thinking, Texas is uninhabitable for humans based on the horrendous climate and, well, no offense to you Texans, but the culture ain't my bag either. I'm getting the hell out of the South ASAP myself, so here's to good luck for the both of us! I've been down here 23 years now, other than a few years in Massachusetts and Vermont (which is what sparked my love affair with the cold and snow), and it's time to go home to the North where I belong. It's so hot here...

ASNA relocated me to Barrow but they said it's too soon to do it again. I won't go back to Bethel but I'll look into some of the other bush hospitals. I'll look into Providence but I'm kind of wanting to get in with the VA or IHS for their tuition benefits.

Well it looks like my Beaumont time was just for orientation and that I'm headed to Gainsville after this. Time to look on Wikipedia.

I'll take a few degrees less over a casino. Hopefully it's not as humid as it is here.

Well, it's north Texas, just north of the Dallas Megaultragiganticplex. I think it's supposed to be a little better in that part near the OK border, but I don't know a whole lot about Texas. I just think hot and sunny when I think of Texas. A friend of mine who is from Austin says the weather isn't bad, but she likes hot weather, so I don't believe her.

Wynternight,

It won't be quite as humid in Gainesville, and certainly won't be a metro area either, but will still be way more hot than you want. Tx/Ok state line just north of you, Denton just to the south (fairly cool music scene from what I hear but two colleges there).

Kind of neat area, but not much cold weather.

btw, welcome to Texas! You can join the not terribly small group of Texans that dream of Alaska, but you got us beat since you've been there....

false. it's much hotter up in North Texas, due to to the drier conditions and the lack of an oceanic influence. Most areas of North Texas and Oklahoma have been breaking records for 50 days or more with 100+ temperatures. Coastal Texas is the best place to be right now, it's hot but tolerable!
