Yeah, that's what the article said; that Igloo City Resorts wasn't open. The article that Warpt posted did list some other interesting places to stay.

Are there ice hotels in Alaska like they have in Sweden (see ICEHOTEL #20 | World's largest hotel made of ice and snow) ? If not, why not?

FYI Yes, Alaska certainly does. BTW just because Sweden has something doesn't mean AK. has to.
