Just how bad are the mosquitoes. should I invest in alot of bug spray too!! But, alaska doesn't have snakes right? that's what someone told me. Infact my husband used that to get me to agree to the move. I'll live on the moon to be from of the nasty ugly wicked horrible things, that just wait for you to step out of the house so they can sneak up on you. Snakes I mean not husbands

Bear Spray works, make sure you buy actual Bear Spray and buy the biggest can they have. Mosquito's suck. I spend most of my summers on the Kenai Peninsula where they aren;t as bad. If you go to the Mat-Su valleyor further north they are terrible. Your best defense is Bug Spray with DEET, the more DEET the better. Apply everywhere (Face, Hair, Ankles under you pants, etc.) and re-apply often.
When camping, Mosquito Coils work better than Citronella Candles. We also make a perimeter around our camp site using Tiki Tourches with Citronella oil. Wemake the wick big and smokey, seems to help keep them at bay as well.
