That is certainly true! I went to their website to see what they were saying, and I didn't see that there either...

Perhaps you can direct me to where the WWF, or anyone else for that matter, is claiming that polar bears are currently dieing off or currently facing extinction????

Please, no just "Oh you haven't seen...", but give us a real example, eh?

That's certainly what they appear to be saying:

WWF - Polar Bear

Sure... people say a lot of really stupid things, and then strart making jokes out of it to avoid the consequences... but the statements that I am discussing were not posted as tongue in check, they were serious.

You say one thing, and then post a cite to a URL that proves you are wrong. It does not say polar bears are on the Endangered List. It says they are on the Threatened List. (It is a rather significant distinction!)

BTW, I'm not sure that I agree with listing polar bears as threatened at this time. I'm also extremely leery of the IUCN listing as "Vulnerable" due to a "suspected" population drop of >30%, which is data that I don't think can be verified.

On the other hand, I do agree that Global Warming is a serious potential threat to polar bears, and that they may well be threatened with extinction within the next 100 years if the current trends continue.

I think that John McCain was all for putting the polar bears on the threatened species list.

Quote:
"I think it should have happened a long time ago," said McCain, an Arizona senator. "It's clearly one of the thousands of consequences of climate change and I think that now the first step of listing the polar bear is important."

Oops, "threatened" vs "endangered" (BOTH part of the Endangered Species Act). I'm not putting deep thoughts into this. Someone is worried about them...BUT deep thoughts was not the intent of this thread. Sue me for it if you want.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

The thought of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid holding the reins of power in this nation should make every American break out into a cold sweat. Hide your wallets and guns because the idiocy of the contemporary "progressive" movement is upon us.
