Well a cutting torch is a tool and would be well served to have out there for a few days... A pile a scrap isn't that appealing.

Your really working at trying to keep McCandless up and running to have to pick on a three year old thread.

Why don't you just don your backpack, get out of your parents house and go see the bus for yourself! You get an adventure, travel and can be one of the thousands of people that have trekked into the wild, just remember not to bother the private property on the way! And you might even get a movie deal!
