That way you are in the US all the time and can skip any potential Canadian
border problems.
From what I have been able to research on-line and by calling(its all very confusing by the way), it is really expensive.. over $2500 to get me and my truck there plus I still have to pay gas and hotels to get to WA... not really feasible. I wish I could, I feel like I have looked at this from every angle.. the forces are against me on making my escape but I WILL find a way.

Well I kinda like my Tacoma first of all, she is a good ride ... but if that was an option then I would do it.. but I know I can not get out of it what I owe and I know no one will give me a loan for another one due to recent things that have came up in the last yr beyond my control(house foreclosure due to messy separation). A yr ago I would have said "hell yeah I'm on my way!!! f*** the truck I'll get a new better one..." but... Life sucks sometimes.. must move on..

Default anchorage is crowded

My friend was looking for 2 br apts in Anchorage and said they are few and expensive. He figured around $1500 for a nice 2 br. There was an article about the vacancy rate being very low right now in Anch. I think that it's not necessarily newcomers, but former Alaskans returning. Just a hunch. Seems that one would be much more comfortable heading back to a place they already know and have contacts. PFD filings are mysteriously higher than any inmigration would indicate. I have a feeling that we are better off than most places down south.

Personally, I paid about 1000 for a really nice 3BR in the Jewel Lake-Raspberry area.

I agree. Many people I know who moved away from here (indiana) are heading back (even though the recession hit us-elkhart county-the worst) because it's easier to be close to family and friends when things are bad.

I know when my Friends Husband got Laid off last fall, the first thing they started doing was talking about moving back to Alaska, to be close to family for thier support (they also just had a baby).

I'll be adding to the "immigration" numbers, as my friend says, she's "importing" me when they move.

The jobs are still good here in Wyoming too, but it the big O has his way we'll all be out of work. The worst part about the whole deal is that things are so good here now, I'm hesitant to bail out of WY and head to AK.

I can wait, I just don't wanna.

Nope, if you were down and out and desperate to find a new place to go... I would try Southern California where they have all sorts of free social programs and nobody has to work, they import illegals to come in and do the hard work for you so you can enjoy a life of leisure..

Alaska has Mosquito's so big they can drain your blood out in less than an hour while trying to fish or be out just enjoying the short summer daylight season....

Nope, moving to anyplace else is a much better option.... The ones of us that are here are trapped, there is a foreign country between us and you, they won't let us out and the airlines are having too much troubles in taking more than a few hundred a day out.... it is bad...

Any other horror stories that one could add.....
don't forget...thows dammed ice worms.my feet hurt just thinkin of em.
