Actually, I hadn't even read that thread until recently but it looks like you got a little pissy with someone who posted something you didn't want to hear who was telling the truth. So now I guess I can consider myself "well versed" in your comments. And from those comments I've deduced that my original impression of you as being someone who could probably make it here was in fact an erroneous one. Good luck to you, though.

Oh, how devastating- NOT. Leave it up to people such as yourself and Starlite to make bold predictions about somebody's ability to "make it" in Alaska without even knowing the first thing about them. I've thrived in the face of adversity my entire life, and the negative comments of a couple of keyboard jockey's won't influence me in the least. I've read enough of your posts to realize you're not exactly Mr. Popular around these forums. You get quite pissy yourself, and your reputation vs. your number of comments speaks volumes.

By the way, Lord forbid I should ever morph into "Mr. Popular" around these forums.

My detractors have very rep to post ratio counts that make mine look like the class valedictorian but even most of them have graduated to something other than middle school mentality.

Can't take your own medicine, huh? Ahhh, figures.

I have no doubt I can thrive in Alaska. Why? Because I have an unflappable work ethic, a can do attitude, and an unwavering perseverance to slog through even the most difficult of times. I also don't let negative people, such as yourself, rain on my parade. I focus on what's possible, not what isn't. If the entire country were full of naysayers such as yourself, we'd never make any progress. Thank god for all of us free thinkers.

So what's stopping you?

You've been offered a lot of good advice on this forum since you started asking questions about possible relocation and yet it does seem that when someone says something that you don't want to hear, you become almost vicious. I was actually quite surprised when I read the thread you mentioned that you'd started earlier and saw some of your comments to one of the most knowledgeable people on this board concerning property. That propensity won't serve you well in rural Alaska if it's one that translates into real life.

But...we've all seen it in real life; people who come up, ask questions of the locals and then become angry when they don't get the answers they want to hear.

He's an Akita, Barkingowl, my big ol' 120 lb bear! BTW, I love the main picture on your profile. I'm wondering where that was taken. Really nice.
