This thread is borderline on being closed. Stay on topic or I'll just save myself a bunch of reported posts and delete the entire thread.

Now who would do that...ya we know

He's lowered himself to that has he...

"BP spill is already far larger than the 1989 Exxon Valdez"....many times larger at this point with to end in sight

Their entire effort to this point has been much like a monkey doing you-know-what to a football

Maybe what Rance is referring to is the post I reported myself about 15 minutes ago.

Never reported a post...ever

If ya have to stoop to that level ya need to git some thicker skin perhaps...

We do have some lurkers that don't post anymore and that would be something a couple of them we know would do.

Had some so-called "orphaned posts" that were tampered with by an unqualified mod once...

Yes; I'm aware that some of the lurkers who used to post here report posts and do so pretty much due to sour grapes on their part.

I personally reported MM's latest psycho ranting about me, though and I won't defend that action to anyone.

Reported a bunch of other posts last night too. Call me thin skinned all you like (though I suspect you just might know better) but some drunk libeling my family members just ain't gonna fly.

A lot of us have made actual friendships and good contacts here; although lot of us disagree about politics et al there used to be a thread of common decency that ran through this place.

It would be nice to see even a semblance of that return.

I'll find a link to the Matthew Simmons video about the leak 7 miles from the riser. I just quoted a text from the video. He maintains that there's absolutely no way to stop it short of detonating a nuclear bomb to try to collapse the sea floor. Interestingly, after he spoke out about this, estimating the spill at more than 120,000 barrels per day, the government upped their "estimate" from 5,000 barrels per day, to 12,000 to 19,000. Now, as reported by CNN today, they have increased their estimates to 20,000 to 40,000 barrels, and acknowledged that it could prove to be much higher. The bottom line is that this is one massive spill, it is still spilling, and they are not even sure how, or if, they can stop it. Also, there is talk now that drilling relief wells could actually exacerbate the situation.

And the significance of that is that at some point BP wil be fined on a per-barrel basic per all the news channels today, think they tossed out the figure of $12 per-barrel.

That per-barrel fine jumps to $43 per-barrel when criminal chargers are proven

No wonder they wanna lie about all they can and not show the HD video to the public, the government, and the experts...

Also tossed out today was a figure that the long term costs could very well be 3 to 7 times the value of the company, which is a wee bit hard to predict when the company value has dropped by 50% in recent weeks and there is no indication that pattern won't
continue.

And those Brits are bitching that the Americans are bad-mouthing their beloved BP and further devaluing the company...I guess they ain't got oil all over their beaches over there and dead American BP employees

Release date: 10 June 2010

BP notes the fall in its share price in US trading last night. The company is not aware of any reason which justifies this share price movement.

The problem with that spin from BP is their asset base is at rick of being lost, at least in US waters... a hostile take over when the company value bottoms out will change their spin on things
