I was stationed in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska for a couple years during the 80's and when I'd call back to ABQ to talk to my family it was almost always colder in NM during the winter months.

Now, what is wrong with planet Earth.
Air. It moves. :-)

Also, Anchorage is on the ocean and oceans moderate climate. That is why Minneapolis Minnesota is much colder (and hotter) than Oslo, Norway.

Lolzz

No work tomorrow.

Blizzard.

This is the first time there's been a snowday since 1999

Yet I hear about all these cities shutting down for a couple inches or some ice.

It takes 20 inches to shut us down.

The thermometer in my yard in ABQ has hovered around 12 so far today (now 3 p.m.), the weather service says it's 15. Work was canceled with less than half an inch of snow on the ground. We still went out for lunch, wasn't that bad. After lunch we went to a frozen yogurt place, it was packed with college kids off from school. And to think I was jogging in shorts and a T-shirt last week...

I'm psyched that the mountains are getting more much-needed snow, so we can take our new snowshoes for another spin this weekend! And hopefully the snowpack will start to approach normal for a better spring runoff. We've been way too dry this winter.

The lows on Wed night/Thurs am. are supposed to be the lowest we've reached since 1990 -- back in the days when we used to get some real snow.

Can't believe how the city shuts down with an inch of snow. Made a Costco run today while enjoying the day off from work, and the streets were deserted! The roads were clear, too!
