Leinie's wasn't even a craft brewery before Miller bought them. They were a small but mainstream brewery, along the lines of Berghoff (who are trying to reinvent themselves as a craft beer).
And yeah, since Leinie's was bought it is everywhere.
if i had to stick with 1 beer to be stuck with it would be dogfish head 90min ipa, that said some of my other favs are firestone union jack ipa, stone go to ipa, and six point crispin
I'm a sucker for Old Thumper, it was one of the first beers that blew me away in the 80's and it's still great. For US beers Spotted Cow from New Glarus has been my favorite for quite awhile now - and there are some secret places outside of Wisconsin where you can get it! Between that and frequent trips to the Mars Cheese Castle or Woodman's I can keep myself stocked.

I definitely agree with this. I was recently at an airport bar with my 25 year old nephew and he was complaining about the beer selection, which for an airport bar I didn't think was really horrendous - Guinness, Stella, Sam Adams Boston, A local micro Pale Ale, and then 3 or 4 macro brews. I told him "It's a %*C$ing airport bar!". 20 years ago that would have qualified as bar that specialized in good beers! Sadly the local Pale Ale was underwhelming.
Leinenkugel was a small brewery that sold out to MillerCoors, isn't brewed in the same fashion, isn't controlled in anyway by the former owners and is nothing but a corporate brand at this point.
Well, Jake, Dick, and John Leinenkugel still work there, although paid through MillerCoors. Then the kids of the brothers also work there. So, instead of owning the brewery, they all get paid to work there.
There is also still the Chippewa Falls brewery that is Leinenkugel's only brewing.
I remember meeting Dick about 7 or 8 years ago, he led marketing for Leinenkugel's and he said his older brother Jake ran the brewery.

So family still works there....that doesn't make it a micro or craft brewery. I've met a few owners of craft breweries....including some of the big ones....doesn't mean diddly.
It's fine if you like the brand of beers they make....but don't try to pretend it's anything other than a brand of SABMiller or try to convince others that it's an actual craft brewery. It just isn't and it makes you look foolish. Next thing you'll try to tell us is that Blue Moon is a craft beer!!
my favorite, will have to be local since i have consistent access to it..... Karbach Hopadillo.
