I have recently looked into Latin America and countries like Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay that all seem to be doing at least generally well or ok, especially Chile. I was wondering as a whole and in the next 10-25 years has latin america improved and will it continue to improve? Poverty rates going down, crime rates going down, rising economies, and the long term goal of become developed countries like much of Europe and elsewhere? Would love some feedback from people who actually live in these latin american countries and how they view this!

Every country is very different, but in my opinion the overall trend is not good. Chile is prospering due to being a mineral rich country. Colombia is recovering from the narco years and Costa Rica is benefiting from strong tourism, although the locals are being crushed by inflation. Nicaragua is stable but always in danger of going full communist. It is still very poor.

OTH, Argentina is a financial disaster, Brazil is in the sewer, Venezuela has run out of other people's money and is deep in chaos, El Salvador is the murder capital of the world with Honduras and Guatamala not too far behind, Ecuador is deeply troubled.

You can't paint Latin America with one brush stroke, JMHO.

Well Peru has has the best economy in Latin America and has not seen a recession in the 13 years I have lived here. Poverty rates have declined drastically and the middle class has grown.
Nobody can speak to the next 25 years, but with the election of PPK the next five are going to be good! I hear Crime has risen but if you live in one of the upscale areas it is not an issue. Parts of Lima are already first world and the prices reflect that. One advantage is you do not need a car as you can walk or Uber anywhere you want to go. Medical care is World Class at the private clinics and the weather means you are outside year round.

Yeah, sure, that's why we are full of Peruvians here in Argentina. If Peru is that great, you all better stay there rather than coming here.

Chile and Argentina are the best ones right now. Chile's been doing great all these years, and Argentina is recovering very well.

Latin America as a whole is the richest region of the developing world. This fact has been ignored in the USA due to all the focus on some East Asian countries that since the 1980's were developing very rapidly, but East Asia (and all of Asia and the rest of the developing world for that matter) overall is less wealthy and less developed than Latin America.

Latin America is also the most Westernized of developing world too.

Here are some interactive charts you can see what I'm saying:

Latin American GDP Per Capita (PPP) is higher than the rest of the Developing World

Different Parts of Latin America: Mexico = North American Latin America, Dominican Republic + Puerto Rico + Haiti = Caribbean Latin America (no data for Cuba), Central America, South America

In terms of real economic growth, which is what you should look at if you are focused on future development, this is how the region is doing.

Right now developed economies are growing faster than Latin America as a whole

Latin American countries currently growing faster than Developed Countries:

Panama 6.1%
Dominican Republic 5.4%
Nicaragua 4.5%
Costa Rica 4.2%
Guatemala 4.0%
Bolivia 3.8%
Peru 3.7%
Honduras 3.5%
Paraguay 2.9%
Colombia 2.5%
El Salvador 2.5%
Mexico 2.4%
Haiti 2.3%

Developed Economies 1.9%

You also have to consider stability, respect for rule of law, respect for contract law, taxes and personal safety in order to expect true development into an advanced economy.
