The word itself says it: Latinos are all of us who speak a language descended from the old Latin (no longer in use). That includes not just Brazil. Also to Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and even Romania.

Outside the US Hispanic (Hispano) often mean Spaniard. Look at this article that is in today's El Caribe newspaper from the Dominican Republic. Notice the highlighted words.

The article is about a film festival that will take place in Santo Domingo later this months and not just likited to movies created by Dominican producers. Every time this film festival take place, which is not only one of the main film festivals of the Dominican Republic, but of the entire Caribbean. This year it will be dedicated to New York City, the first time for not just NYC being recognized but a city. Until now they only dedicated this event to countries. I wonder if NYC's mayor will mention this or even know about it? The Dominican community is very important in NYC. It could do wonders dor his image among Dominicans if he show some recognition of this event.

El Caribe, 1/2/24

"Hispano-puertorriqueña" = Spaniard-Puerto Rican
"Hispano-dominicana" = Spaniard-Dominican
