God Almighty!

Up over a grand over last year. The valuation hadn't changed that much over last year, so what's up with that? Anyone else in Anchorage find this to be true?

Ours went up about 80 bucks. You must have a very nice house.

Just imagine what it would have been if Begich were still here!

Elections matter. We got rid of Guiterrez in the last Muni election - but the Toadie Drummond and the Alien-Space-Hair lady survived. We need to purge the Assembly of the loons to finally be free of the Inavasion of the Money Snatchers...

Our's seems to be the same or up $100. But not much because I did not notice a difference.

I wouldn't mind taxes going up if I got more/better services. But quite frankly since I have no kids I don't get much in the way of service for my taxes. Roads are always bad and there's never enough cops to get a handle on the city's problems. We just keep dumping a ridiculous amount of money into the school system which only benefits a few.

I'm not going to defend our public schools because they are not all that, but educated children benefit everyone! Not just a few.

Anchorage school district is out of control, I vote down every bond they put on the ballot but some of them still manage to get passed. Its unfortunate that birchwood and chuiach are part of anchorage but at least the tax should be less because the property value is less.

After a little inquiry, it turns out that the city sent someone to the house to do a little window peeping and property inspection. We have been in the process of a remodel and though our valuation is roughly the same from last year (when it went up quite a bit), the city considers the project finished and we are being taxed at the full rate. Sigh. After checking our profile, they've got a few very important facts wrong (inflated number of beds and baths and square foot living area) so we will have to get that all straightened out. $3800 for a 700 sft 1 bedroom, 62 year old house? I don't think so.

Its like an over population of wolves (gov bearuocrats) circling the few remaining moose (productive private sector employees) left in this nation, most other countys and states cant get away with that kind of behavior because the economy is totally tanked so our local and state gov is fattening up off the last remaining GDP our nation has.

I dont understand how some of these people get reelected and how these bonds get passed. To many wolves and leaches in our society basicly making a productive citizens vote functionally useless.
