Up until recently Alyeska Pipeline's guards used .357 revolvers.
They have since switched to Glocks (.40).
They also keep Mossberg 590s in their trucks.

I used to be a Paratrooper at Ft. Wainwright, and we rarely had weapon malfunctions due to cold alone. 90% of failures were due to maintenance (wrong lube, moving a weapon from cold to hot and back to cold, etc.).
Point of interest: At -60F, bullets move slower.

Nice to know that there isn't an upper age limit in Alaska. I noticed that while reading through the minimum requirements for the AST and at 43 I can still meet the physical fitness requirements.

Well put! Revolvers have less moving parts and are pretty much trouble free.
