If having a 19,000 Acre very cool lake right next to the town (that happens to be great sailing during the winter) doesnt matter, than I would agree about Lake Havasu being just another remote small town..

The lake is beautiful, and would be a big draw for those into boating, but there's more to consider than just that. It's still a rather strange question.

I agree the snowbirds are another issue... the whole town swells up in the winter months but If you go to dinner after seven it usually is not a problem as they want to get the early bird specials! It would be great if the local business' boost up the staffing during this time. No place is ever perfect. You just have to accept each town for what they are and go for the one that suits you best.

It may be a ligit question for the geographically challenged (a little research goes a long way to saving face) but its a silly question for natives.

That lake is the main reson the wife and I stay here, we have to be close to water, even if we don't use it some months. The snowbirds and
summer clowns are just havasu facts of life.

Perhaps the OP will come back and elaborate on the reason for the question-- it isn't the sort of either/or question we usually get.

Having lived in Phoenix and now living in Havasu. I would never go back to Phoenix. I dread even having to drive through Phoenix. Snowbirds are not out much after dark and I have more of a problem with the summer weekend idiots from CA.

It boils down to the fact that someone who prefers a big city and someone who prefers a small town are simply looking for two different things in terms of employment, amenities, atmosphere, etc. Hence, apples and oranges. So, any answer to the question doesn't mean much. Some prefer the small town, others the large metro area.

I agree, we need more info. What kind of lifestyle you want would play such a large role in a decision this contrasting. Couldn't be more distant. Hard to answer.

Default Both are great.

Depending on your lifestyle both cities can be great. Phoenix has tons of restaurants, shopping and events but hard to get out of town. Traffic has become pretty bad so that can get irritating. Havasu is great because the lake is so beautiful and the town it's self is quite nice. It has enough good restaurants and isn't big so you never have to deal with traffic. There are great parks for walking or playing at the beach like Rotary Park. It's also a lot of fun to check out the London Bridge.
