Lol Metro Kuala Lumpur is puny, 7.25 million citizens, compared to Metro Manila at 24,650,000 citizens.

Manila is larger, more exciting, more diverse and has an older history than Kuala Lumpur.

Manila, City of Man!

Manila is more diverse than Kuala Lumpur...

Kuala Lumpur only has Chinese, Indians, Malays, Europeans and Arabs...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuala_Lumpur#Demographics

Manila has Chinese, Indians, Malays, Arabs, Europeans AND Latinos and Americans...

"The diversity here is immense such that I could go on forever trying to differentiate lands and peoples. There are Castilians from all provinces. There are Portuguese and Italians; Dutch, Greeks and Canary Islanders, and Mexican Indians. There are slaves from Africa brought by the Spaniards [Through America], and others brought by the Portuguese [Through India]. There is an African Moor with his turban here. There are Javanese from Java, Japanese and Bengalese from Bengal. Among all these people are the Chinese whose numbers here are untold and who outnumber everyone else. From China there are peoples so different from each other, and from provinces as distant, as Italy is from Spain. Finally, of the mestizos, the mixed-race people here, I cannot even write because in Manila there is no limit to combinations of peoples with peoples. This is in the city where all the buzz is." (Remesal, 1629: 680-1)

Kuala Lumpur.

An expat once told me this:

“Party in Bangkok, do commercial enterprise in Singapore, live in KL.”

Why?

The fine of each worlds in one city. You have Singapore at Bangkok costs minus the rigid, annoying society.

Singapore’s perks found in KL.

Get by with most effective English
(Almost) a evolved us of a
Multicultural, multiethnic, multireligious
Quality healthcare & training
Great recreational facilities along with parks & golfing courses (KLCC Park within the middle of the town)
(Almost) good metro machine
Lesser traffic jams
Better air excellent
An tremendously right air hub for locations in Asia-Pacific (bonus- it’s tons cheaper as properly!)
Live inside the suburbs, in which it isn’t as anxious. Bangkok's suburbs are not outstanding, & are as demanding and busy because the CBD.
Family friendly- prostitution & go-cross bars exist, but are hush-hush. Not to your face like Bangkok.
Luxury rental residing (at particularly reasonably-priced prices).
Bangkok’s perks in KL.

Relatively low cost of residing (newsflash- KL is nearly a reasonably-priced, if not less expensive than Bangkok now due to the Baht's strength!)
Own a car & drive at low-priced fees (even inexpensive than Thailand!)
Own a landed house or extraordinarily big condominium unit at applicable charges
Have brilliant and cheap street food
Shop until you drop (in general luxury & mid range in shops even though, avenue purchasing continues to be much better in Bangkok- not anything can beat Chatuchak Market)
Do almost anything (even sleazy ones) at cheap fees
KL’s own precise perks

Go trekking or jungle trekking in the a couple of genuine forests and hills in the town borders.
Go on weekend getaway road trips. Most of the usa (Peninsular Malaysia), Singapore & southern Thailand can be reached in less than an 8 hour force. Singapore & Penang can be reached in a 4 hour drive.
Explore most of Southeast Asia at extraordinarily reasonably-priced expenses. AirAsia's important hub is in KL and they have the most significant network into Southeast Asia.
Of route no city is best, and KL has its honest share of problems too

Relatively high priced nightlife (nearly Singapore expenses)
Crime (but now not as terrible as US and no gun lifestyle)
vehicle-centric planning & visitors jams (very LA-like)
For a nearly developed u. S ., it has extraordinarily slow net speeds
big 0.33-international migrant employee population (corresponding to both Bangkok/Singapore, but greater seen in KL as they congregate in vacationer regions like Chinatown).
Food is a draw though, you could never get wrong with food in these 3 towns. But again, KL for the quality of each worlds- authenticity, range at reasonably-priced expenses!

And for expats who decide to settle in KL, we wish you:

Selamat Datang ke Kuala Lumpur!

Is KL pedestrian friendly and does it have mass transit?
I like how it has many parks and mountains nearby.

Honestly besides the diversity, why the need to go Bangkok when you can party harder in Manila? Why the need to live in KL when you can get the same living cost and condition in many parts of Metro or Mega Manila, and when KL tends to be boring in a month or so? And also besides high- level business transactions, why the need to go an all blast Singapore when you can have the same level of business competitiveness at lower the price in the city of Man and same with KL , SG gets boring in some weeks or so?

Think of Metro or Mega Manila as an amalgamated Bangkok, KL and Singapore (and mini Macau or Las Vegas) in one, with its transportation as its weaker point at the moment. But with the ongoing infrastructure boom and transportation improvement, I do think Manila would be more relevant in the very near future than these other major cities in Southeast Asia. Besides, if you live in a condo in one of the CBDs, you wont have to mind the traffic that much. Even with that taking into consideration many factors, for me Metro Manila is the more practical place to live, party and do business in one than KL.

These scrubs won't listen to overwhelming reason and still argue that KL is better. Well whatever makes them happy...

I have been to both KL and Manila (although not recently) and I'd imagine living in KL would be much easier than living in Manila. There's less poverty, much better public transport (including an actual train line to the airport), seems safer and cleaner, less pollution, much less traffic, etc.

There are advantages to Manila though, including better nightlife and better food choices. Also more affordable. Living in one of Manila's CBDs like BGC or Ortigas would be like living in a self-contained bubble where you surround yourself with modern first-world conveniences while pretending that the other half who lives in extreme poverty do not exist.
