Yep. He (and his cronies) get to go around telling stories about how immoral they were when they were Atheists and people will just eat it up.

If more people felt comfortable to simply SAY they were an Atheist, then maybe our reputation would get better. There are plenty of us that volunteer, live extremely moral lives (especially when compared to the religious....) but nobody would ever know we're non-believers.

Ths thread was mistakenly relocated to the main R&P this morning by mistake.

To any for whom that may have caused confusion: June's sincere apologies.

To any for whom it may have caused frustration: Again, June's sincere apologies.

That comment reminded me of the most recent episode of Stephen Fry in America where he was talking to the warden of a large prison.

It was interesting what the warden had to say about christians and morality and immorality.

I'll see if I can find it.

Oh and thanks June & ptsum!

No worries Maggie. I'm just having trouble finding it on youtube.

It's episode 3 of Stephen Fry in America and I found a little excerpt but so far no video of the encounter.

Driving through the Lower 9th Ward with Iraqi veteran Isaiah, Stephen witnesses for himself the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, before heading to Angola, Louisiana’s notorious State Penitentiary. There, warden Burl Cain takes him on a tour of the 18,000-acre prison, where 5,000 inmates, the majority of whom are African-American, are locked up for life.

* Stephen Fry In America – Episode 3*by*Stephen Fry In America

From what I remember the warden, Burl Cain was in the back of Stephen's cab and they were discussing morality and how people who have God are moral so religion is encouraged in the prison. That moral people are not rapists and murders and thieves. It made me wonder what Mr Cain would make of atheists.

I'll keep looking.
