Actually Memphis is not the biggest pool for Jackson (take this from a Jacksonian). Most of Northern Mississippi (Grenada, Greenville, Southaven, Tupelo, Starkville) are areas that deal with Memphis. Most people from the Jackson region find themselves in Houston, Dallas and/or Atlanta. And a nice number find themselves in New Orleans (like me ). Boy if I could find a better paying job down there I would be back in a flash!!

I dd make an exception for ghettos remember.

kids growing up in more diverse cities lose that culture nonsense and act just as vanilla ice as the rest of the kids.

ATL has gotten more Diverse in the last 20 years so the kids nowadays should be less BOys in the hood and more leave it to Beaver now.

LOL

I went to school in a suburban area, where the white percentage was about 70% and the black percentage was 30%. I'm not talking about the black ghettos.

Kids who grow up in diverse settings do not necessarily loose their individual cultural traits. I know this because I went to school in such a setting. Furthermore, I have lived in such diverse neighborhoods. The cultural traits are still prevalent, though they are diluted a bit if the black student lives in an overwhelmingly white area, say 85% or greater.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. I lived there temporarily and I can definitely say that you're wrong. I don't care what select group you may have asked. The Atlanta/Texas pull is split even and so is the Memphis/N.O. sway.

Amongst major metros, N. Mississippi--> Memphis
Central & S. Mississippi--> New Orleans

Amongst very large metros --> N. Mississippi --> St. Louis
Central Mississippi & NE Mississippi--> Atlanta
South Mississippi --> Houston

I'm only going with what the studies have shown. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

let me ask you this. If you need to leave where you live to find something that must be found in a bigger metro, where do you go?

when I think of pull I think of people living in an area without international flights, consulates, etc etc. Like If I am living in Oxfordshire in England I would go to London for these things.

Where do people in Jackson go for these things or simply to get away, go to new bars etc. Do a lot of people really need to go as far as ATL?

I actually kind of agree with his statement. Atlanta can be classified as a super metro even though Memphis city population is greater than Atls. In terms of the Metro area population, Atlanta is ranged as one of the top 10. Table of United States Metropolitan Statistical Areas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
