My wife and I are relocating into the area and we are debating on buying a house towards the Lake Acworth Area. I work in Kennesaw so am not too concerned about my commute, but my wife will be working closer to downtown close to the 85/75 intersection. My question is what type of commute would that be if she were to take North Cobb Parkway vs. 75 down there, or vice versa. The house location is close to Alatoona house school. Any input would be appreciated.

I know what i would do if my wife had to deal with that commute (it's horrible no matter how you slice it) - I would live near the 75/85 connector and I'd most likely take on that commute to Kennesaw.

But seeing the mention of Alatoona district, i am guessing this isn't an option for you. Perhaps you can compromise somewhere around marrieta?

Well its not that so much really...theres just a house we would really like to have right next to that school. That was sort of being used as a land mark really, but I think I catch your drift. I just wasn't familiar with the difficulty of driving down north Cobb opposed to 75.

Man, you better go ahead and get a standing account w a local florist and a comfortable couch to sleep on because your wife is not going to be happy w that commute.

That's a nice area up there but fighting 75 or 41 both ways is brutal if it's 7-9 am and 4-7 pm.

I do have friends up that way who have the flexibility in their jobs to come in early around 5 am and leave at 2 pm and they miss the traffic both ways.

Cobb Parkway is an unmitigated disaster.

It's by far my least favorite road to travel in the entire United States of America.
