In most regions, both forms of transportation are funded by the local and state governments.

Georgia is a little weird in this regard. Very weird, in my mind.

Excellent! I would sure hate to think any my hard earned tax dollars were being used way up on I-575 or something like that.

Well, start hating then, since there's a new interchange being built between Exits 8 and 11, and Exit 11 is getting a second overpass to double it's capacity. All GDOT funded.....
