that's the worst possible angle you could take of that building, bar none. they're giving us the credit, but they aren't making it look good!

Atlanta's BOA Tower is basically a 800 foot building with a 200 foot "plus" "gold" laced "crown sitting on the top! Psuedo "Skyscraper"!

I did not know the building's exact height but I did use it as a source of navigation once when someone basically ran me off of I-20. I had to exit to avoid an accident and was lost. Since I could see it, it felt like a flipping lighthouse. It's a complicated story but I kept turning corners until I got to it and could proceed from there.

Yeah, we'll get bested by someone else sooner or later, and we'll never get that title back most likely (rents aren't high enough here). But oh well, it was cool when it lasted and it speaks to Atlanta's culture of boldness and ambition to even get something like this done in the first place.

Our new wave of projects (like Ponce City Market and 12th & Midtown) don't do much for the "biggest, best" category, but will be way better in terms of their impact on the city. BoA tower is in a dead zone and is so pedestrian unfriendly that it arguably detracts from its neighborhood.

Sorta like the new freedom tower in NYC, Willis (Sears) in Chicago, etc.

atlanta will have more supertall buildings someday, but not right now— the market isn't there yet. when you've had 4-5 years of office, residential, and retail space shortage in town along with skyrocketing real estate costs, i can guarantee you'll see more than a few supertall building proposals for our fine city.
