How many of the "world class cities" were in near ashes 150 years ago?
Seriously? Have you been to Europe or Asia?

Well, to be completely honest, cities like London, Paris, Tokyo, Athens and Rome have had thousands of years to become "world class." So the fact that Atlanta has become what it is in barely 150 is quite an impressive feat.

Being a national capital helps a lot too. But New York is relatively young and is the de facto capital of the world. Berlin was utterly destroyed, basically having to start from scratch all over and was a divided city because of the Cold War. So Atlanta shouldn't be pounding its chest.

Complete valid comparison you made there.
But supposedly, both were destroyed and had to "start over". Right?

I think it was mostly the US and the Marshall Plan. But it's also a testament to the character of the German people.

Atlanta had less than 10,000 people at the start of the Civil War. It's not like a city was destroyed. A small town was.

Also the Civil War isn't the reason why so much of the pre WW2 Atlanta was destroyed. Atlanta's own leaders and developers were. The Fox theater was nearly leveled in the 70s.

I'm slowly coming to realize Atlanta will never in the same tier as cities like NYC, SF, LA, and Chicago. When I look at those cities and realize how developed and established they are compared to Atlanta, it's pretty depressing to be honest.
