You guys are crazy.

This isn't Peachtree St., Ponce is pretty much a car thoroughfare. It already has McDonald's, Taco Bell, Zaxby's, and a great big ol' suburban style Whole Foods, Home Depot, Petsmart, etc. What do you think, that Ponce is going to develop just like Peachtree and in 10 years be lined with multifamily dwellings with retail on the bottom?

There's already a Chick-fil-A that fits your description. It's in the Atlanta Medical Center. And nobody goes there. You know why? Because it's too much of a pain. Nobody wants to go pay $2 to park to go get a Chick-fil-A. You really think Ponce has the foot traffic to support a business like this? No way. Not unless drug dealers and Bicycle Shorts Man buy Chick-fil-A every day.

Perhaps in 20 years you could make the argument that a place like this shouldn't open up, but today, Ponce is a car road. Just because Ponce City Market is there and the Beltline crosses over it doesn't magically change that.

I don't see Ponce as a candidate for the type of urban walkability that you want it to be.

I agree that this will be a traffic nightmare, though. That's the best argument to keep it away if you don't want it.

Conveniently located right next door to Blondie

Ponce is changing, look at PCM and the proposed Murder Kroger mixed use development. Together have thousands of potential clients within walking distance, not to mention the residents of the SFH and apartments around the area.
You Ponce is a car thoroughfare and you are correct, NOW, but that is changing and we have to start somewhere. I hope Tim Keane kills this project. Chick-fil-a needs this location, Atlanta does not need this chick-fil-a.

This should be vetoed based on safety concerns. They should not be allowed a curb cut due to the risk to traffic collisions with other cars and the rapidly increasing number of bikes, and pedestrians in the area.

Most of the eating establishments in this area do fine without a drive through.

I dont see people *****'n about Murder Kroger or Home Depots parking lots on Ponce
I actually hear about it. I've seen people upset about how they're separate from the Midtown Theater parking lots. I've seen people upset about how they don't have good connection to the surrounding neighborhood roads. I've seen people upset about how there's limited to no BeltLine access. I've seen people upset about the mess of driveways that they have.

The point is, it'd be nice if this was a more dense instalation. Not even without the ability to park / drive-up to it, but part of something a bit more useful of the space than a single restaurant. Maybe something to compliment the Clairmont redevelopment, or the Kroger redevelopment. It just seems kinda odd that so much is densifying, while this isn't.

I guess walking a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood or $150 worth of groceries down Ponce is more attractive than hookers. Just not practical.

Something similar happened in the heart of Birmingham's urban core in its Five Points South district about 5 years ago with a Chick-fil-A proposal and the citizens fought it tooth and nail until the design changed to more urban-oriented with parking in the rear, front the street directly, and pedestrian-friendly with a large outdoor terrace. You guys might want to contact those from Birmingham and find out what and how they did it...
