Maybe there's some more PR work that could be done.

What about asking Jackson if they could get some students to volunteer for neighborhood service projects? I know they've got a lot on them already but that sort of thing would get them out in the community and show the great young people that are attending school there.

I'm sure there are other things as well. It really helps if a community develops a sense of ownership for its schools.

Hard for a community to develop a sense of ownership for it's schools when APS constantly shuffles the deck. In recent history, I don't think there has been a 24 month period where they haven't rezoned, closed, or merged a school in this area, while Drew has been expanding at the same time. It'd go a long way to simply have some period of stability with the educational options around here, but that's simply not been the case . . . and the new changes to Drew's enrollment policy are just more of the same.

Very true, Crim was converted to alternative school and for that Kirkwood/East Lake was zoned Grady. Then redistricting came and Grady was taken away, but in the time since BOE has shown they are willing to invest in Jackson Cluster, led by Leslie Grant and Matt Westmoreland.
We cannot blame APS for Drew's proposed admission changes, that is Drew's board. They need to shoulder some of the blame they deserve.
