Dislikes: Traffic, UGA, yankee attitude (not yankees, just their attitudes), race card, cry about rail, civil war was about slavery (iit wasn't)

Likes: Braves, Tech, and HS sports.

People on this board will ***** and moan about traffic, which does suck, but it didn't just <15 years ago. They'll cry about rail, yet they haven't been here that long (except for AtlantaGreg).

Then we get the racial issue, almost every day. The civil war was not about slavery...it was about States rights (something we should be bitching aobut today). The freedom of slaves was a good thing but don't kid yourself......thousands of 'White' soldiers didn't fight in the late 1800's to free Blacks.....

But as a Southern Colony, we're still considered racist today, 100+ years later, only b/c we're from here, talk different, and wave a rebel flag.

It's a culture thing, I don't see Yankees waving their Northern flag...that's what it means down here, independence. The same that Vermont and N. Dakota are seeking now.
This is the typical reply you'll get from a native. Yeah I know the Confederate flag to you represents "barefoot women, boiled peanuts, and NASCAR." But to the majority of Americans it represents oppression and racism. I apologize if this represents my "Yankee attitude".

What rude, obnoxious posts. Both of you. This is one of the reasons I can't stand it here.

I also hate it here because on a crystal clear, sky blue day, it took me 58 minutes to get home from work.

I live 7.9 miles away.

I get home, and I'm angry.

And if I could realistically leave tonight, I would.

I'm learning. Atlanta doesn't seem too different from where I am moving from. Mountains now that's new to me. How is the Arts out there? Does Atlanta have an artistic community? Downtown looked pretty interesting from what I saw the day I was there. I hope the segregation is not at bad as everyone is saying.

more a tone of attitude (and anger)...everyone blaming everyone else for everything. And then verbalizing it constantly.

I think Atlanta is a nice place to live. Granted, I now live in Kennesaw, but I go downtown a few times a month for work. I spent 5 years living in the Vinings area and loved it. I guess it is all what you make of it.

Amen (and that's not meant to show the supposed highly-religious nature of the area....lol). We've only been here since last summer, but I just don't see all of the "attitude", "racism", "tension" and other stuff that everyone's talking about. Maybe coming from the NY metro area I see things a little differently, but I'm just not seeing these issues.
