While you may disagree with her on some things (I also disagree with her about Peachtree) to say that she just cares about the needs of her Buckhead neighbors is short-sided at best. You're much smarter than that.
Since I lived in more than one predominately black areas of the city (Northwest and Southwest), I have only seen Norwood at only community events for a photo op. When it comes to the major meetings, NPUs, etc. she has her black surrogates (or as I call them "mouthpieces") there particularly in the mostly black areas to talk the talk. Most black folks cannot be bought know she sends her representatives to the black areas of the city when there are not photos to be taken. Hence, why everyone in social and professional circles I interact in have said they don't buy nothing she has been telling them because they have seen more talk and photo ops than action with Norwood...

How not surprising coming from you.

Funny that my friends in the West End and Westview say the exact opposite of this, but then they don't have a hidden agenda.

The map I posted earlier shows that, while Norwood lost heavily to Reed in most black neighborhoods, she was far from being shut out.

For example, at Cascade Elementary, she got 184 votes to Reed's 537.

At Venetian Hills, Reed got 453 but Norwood still pulled in 97.

At St. Peter's Baptist, it was 490 Reed to 155 Norwood.

So, yes, in a one-on-one race she lost heavily to Reed on the southside.

Yet Norwood still had 20-25% support. That's not too shabby against a well established and popular candidate like Sen. Kasim Reed. Who knows how it would play out against someone who isn't as well known and liked as Kasim Reed?

Reading your response is not surprising, but notice my stance and point still stands. Oh yeah, you also don't live in Southwest Atlanta, so I really don't care what you think...

That's my perception too and I live in Buckhead. What I have observed about Norwood since 2010 is that she was out and about during election season in every district. After the election she has stuck to her stomping grounds. Now here she is again to play the savior. SMH

Hate to say it but that seems pretty typical of political candidates of all persuasions and backgrounds.

Norwood tends to be out and about more than most but maybe that's because holds an at-large seat.

I have politically active friends that do, and it sounds like a different planet than the SW Atlanta you claim to be familiar with.

Oh the irony, so do I. All of mine are very active in their neighborhood associations, NPUs, etc. in their respective areas within the City, so what...? Everyone I know clearly knows who Norwood is, what she does, what she doesn't do, where she sends to be her mouthpieces, and when she decides to show up herself (only for photo ops and come campaign time)...

Sounds like me you know a different racial demographic and/or a bunch of whitewashed individuals...

Honestly, how much time are any of these candidates (many who are city coucilpeople) spending in other districts? Norwood shouldn't really be spending that much time in other districts if she's not actively representing them. Seems like expected behavior to me, not really sinister...

FYI, I live in West End, and other politicians do the same thing. All of the local politicians and not just Norwood attend West End meetings when its time to vote in the election.
