You should see how high and secure the transmission line poles are around here.

Power came back on a bit ago, thank goodness! I have decided that I wouldn't do well as a pioneer in days of yore.

We're not out of the woods yet so I hope the power stays on. It's not the worst conditions ever but it's just plain yukky out there!

I hate to sound like I'm bragging, but my little neighborhood never lost power, despite at least three large trees falling (all three missed the lines by maybe inches) and lots of not-so-small branches. Internet too, no problems with Comcast all day.

If you're in one of the outages that's a few hundred plus customers you're usually good to be back within about 24-48 hours at worst. If it's just a handful you're usually in trouble.

I know right!! All the people I've spoken to today said that they've experienced power outages. 2 of them lost power to their house and another lost internet/t.v. but their apartment still had power, while I'm sitting here posting things to city data forum, deciding what to watch later, and warming up food in the microwave. I am grateful we didn't get hit hard. It's about 9:30 and so I think the worst is over. To be honest, I feel as if I have seen worse from a severe thunderstorm than I did this storm. Anyway, I'm really grateful. Maybe all in all it was just a severe thunderstorm or maybe I'll hear about all the damage tomorrow.

There was definitely a lot of damage around. I was listening to the ham radio weather net for all the damage reports and they were coming fast and hard at times. More than I've ever heard in all my years of monitoring severe weather.

I bet a lot of them concern trees. That is why with storms like these I am always writing about trees.because the soil gets really wet or the tree can't handle the wind, etc., and someone gets killed by one.
