It sucks she’s not acknowledging her inspiration. Tassili’s Raw Reality has all the provocative African American terms for sex parts (maybe not all) like Punany (it’s funny hearing non Black folk try to pronounce it—- funny as in cute) and she’s out here acting like there aren’t some of the best hearty vegan places over here. Wish her business well either way.
Cool. But not looking forward to explaining the name of the place to my kids...

I am not impressed with either of those places. Too expensive for avg residents to do shopping, other than last minute quick purchases. I feel the same way about GBG in Kirkwood, the ready-to-go food is too expensive for me. Instead our neighborhoods need reasonably priced corner grocery stores that residents of all income levels can shop at.
Does Westview Grocery accept EBT?
One grocery store....applause. I knew something was awry when I stated "borderline" food dessert...lol

The Kroger at Cascade and South Gordan is a REALLY nice "Kroger City Center{ type of store, kind of like the one at Stewart Lakewood) There are other smaller neighborhood groceries around the West End, as well: Golden Bear. etc. A few more miles down Cascade, there is a Publix as well. I would hardly call the area a "Food Desert"

Thanks for pointing that out...I also remember seeing able body people in Oakland City area ( age 50-60)who would be up all night partying, while I tried to sleep for work. I’m all for good low prices, but when able body people who can work continue to perpetualize government assistance and EBT, I have no tolerance for that individual complaining about limited food places to shop. I say stop abusing the EBT system and go work.

There is Golden Bear by the funeral home and Kroger near Langhorn. How does that diminish the statement that I made about it being "borderline" food desert? Just asking....As I live in the area as well......

Also, to be clear....Pittsburgh, Mech'ville, Adair Park, Cap. View & Cap View Manor are all within a few miles of Golden Bear to the West, Kroger on Cleveland to the South, since we are stretching mileage you can say Walmart to the north....yet all those neighborhoods are in a certified food desert.

Also, its a reach to include Publix on the other side of 285 on Cascade in the conversation dont you think?

What exactly are you talking about and how does it fit into the narrative being discussed herein??

Nothing to add to the ongoing conversation but good to see that vegan burger place going in @ Lucille & RDA. I guessed a while back that intersection was going to be a huge hit in the next 5 years with the Beltline crossing Lucille Ave right there. That will be the spot in SWATS pretty shortly.

That was days ago; you go back and follow the conversation, if you don’t understand it - then it wasn’t for you.

Many kids (even the low income minority kids) are graduating to attend UGA, GA Tech, Stanford, Duke, and even Harvard, just to name a few. Often with academic scholarships and/or college credit. Many of those same students attended King Middle (and a decent number transferred from Drew). It’s kind of bad/sad how some parents make major educational/real estate decisions based solely on stereotype, misinformation, and heresay without really digging into the facts.

That isn't diverse. Where are the Hispanic and Asian students? 78% of anything isn't diverse. If you want to see truly diverse High Schools schools look to Gwinnett and North Fulton.
