Georgia state Senator and 2018 Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Michael Williams of Cumming and former Democratic Party of Georgia Political Director and Senior Political Strategist Rashad Richey PhD debate President Trump's highly-controversial implementation of tariffs, Mississippi's new 15-week abortion ban (which Senator Williams wants to bring to Georgia as a 6-week abortion ban) and YouTube's new policy banning videos that show how to assemble firearms (a new policy which has angered many Second Amendment advocates).

This Cagle character has proven himself to be a buffoon with this Delta/NRA foolishness. How can we have somebody like that as a governor?

The skirmish between Casey Cagle and Delta Airlines over their disassociation from the NRA was minor compared to where much of the electorate is at in regards for their dislike of the corporate world.

Cagle was actually trying to push the tax break on fuel for Delta Airlines through, but his caucus (the Republican caucus) in the Georgia state Senate refused to vote on the tax break for Delta because many of them took Delta's disassociation from the NRA as a personal affront and an attack on their values (the pro-Second Amendment values of cultural conservatives).

...So as the leader of the Republican caucus in the Georgia state Senate, Cagle basically had no choice but to articulate what the feelings of his caucus were after the caucus made their feelings about Delta Airlines clear in no uncertain terms.

In the scheme of a Republican Primary where many voters are not exactly in love with multinational corporations like Delta, especially after their disassociation with the NRA, Cagle's move actually appears to have helped him move closer to winning the race by winning the support of a decidedly pro-gun/pro-Second Amendment GOP primary electorate.

Cagle's very public pushback against Delta Airlines after their disaffiliation with the NRA seemed to give him the juice and the conservative street cred that he needs to win the GOP primary.

Cagle's pushback against Delta over their discontinuance of NRA discounts likely also does not hurt him in a general election scenario in a state that Donald Trump won in 2016 and in a state where the potential Democratic opposition in the general election campaign appears to be somewhat very shaky at this point in time.

Cagle is actually very moderate by the standards of today's political climate... It's just that Cagle operates in a political environment (both within the Republican caucus of the Georgia state Senate in the politics of a deep-red state in Georgia and in a rightward-tilting national political climate) where the political tone is often set by conservative hardliners who want to push back hard against what they see as a national cultural and social drift to the left.

He, as well as his fellow GOP candidates, have also pledged, in writing, to pass a religious liberty bill if elected. Visit Mr. Cagle's website for his description of his position on various issues. He aligns himself with President Trump and spends a bit of time pointing fingers at Democrats.

Aside from the knowing that they are simply playing to their extremist base, they have to know that this is bad for business.

If you mean WHITE northern transplants you may be right but BLACK northern transplants don't fit your neat little example in the least. Just saying.

Yes they are, as most of these folks are well educated and upwardly mobile. In addition even the White northern transplants aren't all republicans, especially those that are college educated, young, and from the large metropolitan areas of the North. See Boston, New York, Philly, Baltimore, DC,etc.

Just saying.

And now you have the millennials the largest population group in the US, who are signing up in record numbers to vote after the school shooting rally in DC. Change is coming for both Democrats and Republicans, whether they like it or not.
