LOL...talk about exaggeration. There is nothing dangerous about being downtown, ESPECIALLY in the hotel area.

I personally believe most of the crime complaints in Atlantic Station are unattended (noone home) condo breakin's but I don't think anyone will really bother you in broad daylight there.

This area, and 17th Street in particular will look so different in the coming years. It's a shame that the Fuqua project was actually allowed to go through. Such a waste of space.

I saw this Atlantic Station news yesterday:

“Atlanta hotel developer buys long-vacant hole in Atlantic Station

An affiliate of Atlanta-based Peachtree Hotel Group paid $3.75 million for the nearly one-acre site at 17th Street and Atlantic Drive, according to Fulton County property records. The deal closed Oct. 1.

The site is a gap along Atlantic Station’s parking deck, sandwiched between the Twelve Midtown hotel and the BB&T Tower.

It’s unclear what Peachtree Hotel Group is planning for the site. Atlanta Business Chronicle reached out to three of the company’s executives, but didn’t immediately hear back.

Peachtree Hotel Group’s portfolio includes several metro Atlanta hotels, such as a Hotel Indigo in College Park, Homewood Suites in Buckhead and Hyatt Place in Perimeter Center, according to its website.”

I could be wrong, but judging from the perspective of your pictures, it looks like the forthcoming development will be this project:

An Atlanta hotel developer has acquired a long-vacant hole in Atlantic Station.

An affiliate of Atlanta-based Peachtree Hotel Group paid $3.75 million for the nearly one-acre site at 17th Street and Atlantic Drive, according to Fulton County property records. The deal closed Oct. 1.

The site is a gap along Atlantic Station’s three-story parking deck, sandwiched between the Twelve Midtown hotel and the BB&T Tower.

It’s unclear what Peachtree Hotel Group is planning for the site. Atlanta Business Chronicle reached out to three of the company’s executives, but didn’t immediately hear back.

Peachtree Hotel Group’s portfolio includes several metro Atlanta hotels, such as a Hotel Indigo in College Park, Homewood Suites in Buckhead and Hyatt Place in Perimeter Center, according to its website.

The land acquisition comes as Atlantic Station is undergoing a major evolution and expansion, with the goal of turning the Midtown mixed-use project into a more urban, pedestrian-oriented environment.

Commercial real estate developer Hines and its capital partner, a real estate affiliate of Morgan Stanley, continue expanding the 138-acre development with new office buildings and retail tenants, including the flagship H&M and Forever 21 stores, a remodeled Regal Cinema, and Bowlero.

In May, Hines broke ground on an $80 million office building called T3. Plans have also been presented for another office project, Atlantic Yards.

And Oct. 30, a demolition event is set for Atlantic Station’s Central Park. The project will remake the park in front of Regal Cinema, adding more public space and smaller restaurants along the park edge including Hobnob Southern Tavern.

Atlanta Business Chronicle also reported in May that plans were filed for an Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel at Atlantic Station. The developer is Horizon Hospitality Management Inc., according to its website. The 10-story hotel would be about 145,000 square feet, according to the permit.
