Homeschooling I believe means you don’t necessarily follow a standard curriculum. Schooling at home will follow the county district curriculum.

Plus homeschooling means the parent is the teacher. Schooling at home - at best - will mean a remote teacher and the parent stepping in to ensure completion of class work.

As to the previous comment about “normal times”, I agree, we can’t expect it. The school district then shouldn’t expect the same level of taxes to be paid. If students work remotely then it’s possible to have more students in a “classroom” (as parents subsidize the effort). Excess half the teachers and reduce property taxes to compensate.

Educators will have MORE work with handling in-person (while trying to keep a room full of children safe from an insidious virus) along with remote learning options.

Do you have any sense for how many people are opting for the virtual learning route versus the traditional classroom approach?

None right now. If it was 50/50 then I’d send my kids in for sure knowing the class sizes would be roughly 15 or so.

Cobb announced this morning that instead of choice of in-person or remote they will reopen on Aug. 17 full remote.

“data shows this outcome was rapidly becoming inevitable”

Fulton has a special briefing starting shortly, I suspect it will be the same.
