Never said you couldn't express yourself or that you didn't have the right to your opinion. As a taxpayer, a parent, and an observer, I was just giving my opinion.

That's fine. I do have a sister who taught for many years in the Gwinnett County school system at Berkmar HS. I also work for a living and have bills to pay, so I can certainly empathize. I wish no one had to be furloughed, but reality is what it is.

Are you kidding me? They are less stressed but the pay is LOWER!

Its nice if you have months of notice but the reality is it is very rare when you work for someone else that you do receive such notice.

300-700 month for 1 day of furlough?? That translates into a salary of approx $6,000-14,000 month or $72,000-168,000/yr. Wouldn't need to be quite living to paycheck to paycheck on that salary but I am sure I am missing something as that sounds really high for teachers pay from what little I know.
It goes by your degree and years of experience...some teachers probably make close to 500 a day or more. Also, we dont get paid for days we don't work..**** the summer..What other industry doesn't include paid vacation days?

Default teacher bashing

I'd like to see a couple of the posters on this board teach in a classroom for one week. I can guarantee your opinions about furloughs and summers off would change real fast.

What sucks is that they determine summer school pay based on 201 day, we supposedly get 11 paid holidays, so our salary is for 201 days. When they furloughed, they took for 190 day salary. Sounds fishy.
