I'm thinking of taking a good job in Atlanta. I'm from NJ, and my husband is afraid my kids will be discriminated against for being Northern, and Jewish/Catholic. Any thoughts?

Atlanta, especially the Northern Suburbs, has so many Jewish/Catholic people from up North.

This should be the least of your worries.

You shouldn't have any problem in the Atlanta Metro. Just buy a pickup with a gun rack and you'll be fine. Just kidding. Atlanta is a great place to live!

You'll be just fine, and your husband needs to broaden his horizons!

This isn't the Dukes of Hazzard.

Yes I would not worry about that at all. They should have CCD and Hebrew school classes in my neighborhood clubhouse.......The bus stop feels like my Northern NJ highschool.

In what part of Atlanta would your job be located? Atlanta is a very, very large metropolitan area and, while it's a relatively cosmopolitan city in general, there are certainly differences in politics and philosophy that are notable from one part of the city to the other.

Most of our street is yankees (myself included), and 3/4 of the families are catholic- and we're 35 miles outside of downtown, in an area that you'd think would be much more "traditional southern). You've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

If you've got any NJ-GA transition questions, feel free to ask. We made the move from Woodbridge 2.5 years ago, and haven't regretted it one bit.

BFFF, joke, it's you yankees that do all the discrimination. I've NEVER heard the N word used in public out loud till I visted yankeeland.

ALL IN ALL, atlanta is for the types who want the "american dream" drive avg. 60 miles to work so you can have your precious plot of land. Whether yankee or southern people with that mindset are the SCUM of America...

Another comment from the peanut gallery. Thanks again for your elegant commentary on life.
