Both are written because there are alternate spellings of the word:

Canebrake or Canebreak
Origin of the name Atlanta
If historians can't even determine which is the correct spelling, that cements my belief that the name is too obscure. If the "early settlers" used different spellings, which faction of early settlers would we be choosing to honor and deeming "correct" by choosing their spelling?

I think we're starting to overthink these names.

If the Beltline ever becomes real--and as "real" light rail or light metro, there would be a Grant Park Station.

And Kirkwood would have its own station with to the west of the Oakhurst Station called the Kirkwood and East End Station.
Sorry, but there will not be infill station between Edgewood/Candler Park and East Lake. East Lake Station splits the line between Kirkwood and Oakhurst, so it makes sense to call it Kirkwood/Oakhurst especially since both neighborhoods have business districts nearby.

Historians? You mean scientists?

Canebrake (or Canebreak) is a grass/species of plant—native to the Southeastern U.S.

Not obscure at all.

I prefer Canebrake.

The neighborhood of Canebrake.

And Canebrake Station.

No.

Going east from Five Points should be:

Deanville
Sweet Auburn
Cabbagetown (infill)
Inman Park & Reynoldstown
Candler Park & Edgewood
Kirkwood & East End (infill)
Oakhurst
Decatur
Sycamore
Avondale Estates (infill)
Kensington Park...

CNN Station needs to be renamed. Something not related to naming rights of arenas and stadiums.

WTF is East End? I have never heard anyone refer to that area as such. Same with Deanville Canebrake, etc.

In that case, it's so NOT obscure that it could described almost anywhere in the region if you go back far enough in history, and for that reason it's a useless name. Some of your ideas for names are good. This one is a swing and a miss.

We are.

It's gonna be a aries vs. cq showdown.

Winner gets all naming-power for:

MARTA stations
Neighborhoods
Districts
Streets
Future Boroughs
Future Municipalities

As well as boundary/municipality determination.
