Plans to build a publicly-financed multipurpose stadium, condominium and retail complex on the former Georgia Golf Hall of Fame property aren’t dead – they were just sleeping.

Aitken, who's placed the item on the agenda for Tuesday's 5 p.m. commission meeting, said he'd met with developers on the private side of the project who want to know what options for public support exist. Last year's proposal was for a public-private partnership of some sort to finance development of a $38.7 million complex on the state-owned, 17-acre riverfront property. Private partners included Jacoby Development and Augusta GreenJackets owner Cal Ripken, who wants a new stadium for the GreenJackets.

I have great news to share with my friend G-man430.. He wanted to hear about more mix-use projects under construction/announced in Augusta(especially downtown)...

Whites Building
There are already 17 condos inside of the Whites building.. Today I was able to view the progress of the 34 condos(top floors) under construction at the Whites building.. All of the windows in the entire building are being replaced.. They're also working on the roof along with other improvements to maintain the historic preservation status.. Casa Blanca Cafe inside of the Whites Building is one of the most popular spots downtown.. People love looing at the art exhibits and tangoing on thursdays..

The Doris building(attached to the Whites building) is continuing to grow.. I walked past the Tantra Lounge(martini bar, dance floor, and live DJ) and the construction is coming along.. The grocery store Sundrees Market had their grand opening in early April.. The other new business is Augusta Executive Suites who leases mailboxes and office space for companies.. They currently have four offices, three alcoves, and larger offices recently built.. Sandler Training along with a limousine and heavy machinery company are located there..

This is a old picture from the year 2009.. Left of Casa Blanca Cafe where people are sitting outside is the Sundrees Market.. The Tantra Lounge is located to the left of Sundrees Market..

Casa Blanca, Sundrees Market, and Tantra Lounge all have a outside patio.. The space for lease to the right also has one.

On a side note: The mix-use entertainment facility proposed along the riverfront was placed the local agenda next week

The $30 million Saint Sebastian Way project -- a series of bridges and road extensions built to bypass rail lines and traffic lights and to increase vehicle capacity for downtown commuters. The project has extended St. Sebastian Way from Walton Way to Reynolds Street, widened and expanded Greene Street from the CSX rail crossing to 15th Street, improved 15th Street from Butt Bridge to Reynolds, and built or widened six bridges.

I believe the total amount needed in order to complete the Dyess Park master plan is $10 million... The $800k is the amount of Splost VI funds set aside for the park through the year 2015..

I don't know if city leaders plan on using some of the $37.5 million being invested into Laney Walker towards the park..
