New McDonald's being built on Wheeler Road

McDonald’s is building a new restaurant at 3646 Wheeler Road across from the entrance to Doctors Hospital. William Rhodes, the marketing manager for McDonald’s, said the restaurant should be open early to mid-August and will be hiring from the local workforce. Rhodes said the restaurant will be constructed in the company’s new image design, similar to that of locations on Wrightsboro Road and in Evans and Martinez. The lot is 1.29 acres and is being leased to McDonald’s by Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial.

Revitalization Comes to Augusta Along 15th Street

About time i hate riding down 15th street and looking at those run down building which just make downtown look bad. I don't understand why they sat on their hands so long before doing something. 15 th street is very unsafe at night or day for travelers. I hope they fix up martin Luther king street I hate that they use his name on such a run down street that don't represent him at all.

The $1.8 million grant is for South Augusta and the inner city(15th street, MLK, and Deans Bridge/Regency Mall all connect to each other)....

The East Mill Village and Twiggs Circle(Laney Walker-Bethlehem) will spread north and south towards MLK....

Augusta is doing good in terms of replacing housing projects/dilapidated housing with new developments... Gilbert Manor($112 million dental school; $76 million Medical Commons), and Underwood Homes($30 million Walton Oaks mixed-income housing)..

Hopefully the mayor, corey johnson, etc bring up the MLK memorial again in the local media.. I think if we improved MLK then it would show were becoming more progressive..

Berckmans Road changes call for 'pedestrian underpasses' for Masters

The idea is to create a straight shot from Wheeler Road down to Riverwatch Parkway.

"We've looked at five of them [options]," Cassell said.
Each option moves Berckmans from its current location at the Augusta water tower down the road where Stanley Drive becomes Alexander Drive.
