Dunno, maybe the health officials ought to have testing stations outside all those bars where the young people are packing in unmasked.

Williamson County is considering closing its parks in light of Covid-19. I personally think this will have the least desired affect however.

Well Abbott FINALLY woke up and bars are closing and the restaurants are capped at 50%. It's a pity that some ruined it for others, the but lack of common sense people have is astounding....

Case in point, the 300 teens that picked up COVID while attending "Pongfest"...hth did that event get passed anyway??

Yep, my favorite coffee/brewhouse is shutting it's interior down at noon, so in about thirty minutes. They'll still do to-go, but no seating.

Thanks, *****h0les, for not doing your part.* :/

Yeah I just read that. He opened up way too ambitiously and too quickly in hopes to save the economy and in some sense hoped that people would take personal responsibility seriously but too many people cooped up in their houses too long took a mile when an inch of freedom was given.

True but realistically anyone expecting everyone in this country to be of one mindset on how to handle this when so many people have way too many ulterior agenda's and priorities is pretty much wishing on a star. This is why we need a firm government plan on how this should be handled. Too many see this as not a threat to 'themselves' but are not considering the risks they impose on other people.

Before this pandemic Austinites whined & screamed about Abbott stepping on the city's crazy & disastrous homeless polIcies and the plastic bag ban.
Now he's allowing local control to determine what’s best for the city..... and is getting the same reaction.

Y’all make up your minds.

I actually didn't mind the plastic bag ban

Me neither. I think he was wrong there, because it did make a big difference in the litter problem around the big box stores & groceries.

I'm not seeing on social media where Austinites are having issue with the city requiring masks. Even though Abbott's backpedaling is the right call, it's annoying, to say the least, that he made the whole state follow his unwise leadership, and he should get crap for it considering this isn't one of those "hindsight is 2020" situations. The only thing he should get credit for is for actually changing his mind and not taking the typical chauvinistic stance of doubling down. Many people, whatever their jurisdiction, won't follow safety guidelines unless the law requires it.

Also, I never saw anyone, here or on any other social media, do any whining or screaming about his plan to intervene in the homelessness situation. Austin, as I called at the time, specifically made the camping ordinance to get the state to pay attention to the homelessness issues by making them more visible.

The plastic bag ban ban is ridiculous no matter how you cut it.

Yeah, I haven't seen anyone whining about the city being able to require masks....but maybe that is because I don't get out much these days. Or because the neighbors I have have all been wearing masks anyway.
