I just watched the new Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double-header, Grindhouse last night, and noticed a lot of Austin locations. I thought you all would be interested.

The Capitol and Frost Tower are in a parody movie trailer in the beginning.
There's a shot of Colorado Street near the Alamo Drafthouse.
Characters are seen driving down South Congress in front of Jo's and Home Slice.
There are indoor scenes inside Guero's and the Texas Chili Parlor.
There's a scene at the parking lot and back patio at the Omelettry on Burnet.
A suspenseful driving scene takes place on Burnet Road-- you can make out Camp 4 Paws, Top Drawer Thrift Store, Sonic and AAA Appliances.
I think a diner scene takes part inside the Omelettry. Does anyone know this for sure?

I was on Congress when they were filming the driving scene in front of Jo's. I think they were using an older, black car from what I remember. They also shut down 9th St. in front of where I work downtown for filming for a couple of days.

Default Omelettry and the Movies

I haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know whether or not they filmed inside the Omelettry. I saw when they were filming outside and it was pretty bizarre.

On another movie note, they were filming a new Julia Roberts movie at the Omelettry about a week ago. They changed the name to Omega Cafe. The waitress told me the movie was something about butterflies and a field. Sounds like a can't miss.
