He mentioned that even in previous droughts the water line wasn't as low as it was these last 2 yrs. He pointed out the water marks on the rocks as his evidence.

Central Texas drought worst in country | KXAN.com
Here's an article from back in January about the drought in Central TX. We are really having one and I am sure it is affecting the water level in caves as well as the lakes.

yes, along with the extra demand with a greater population. I'm not hating on that , just stating what has been said by someone else. I moved here from somewhere else too, so it'd be kinda hypocritical of me. It's happening in other parts of the country as well. Sorry I got this far off topic.

Hey, I love Westlake Hills; I just can't afford to live there.

I think the odd thing is that I always seem to read about Steiner vs. Circle C, but I rarely read about Travis Country, Lost Creek, River Place and Jester. Those happen to be my favorite suburban communities.
Travis Country is too far from my husband's office (he works off of 183), Lost Creek and Jester were too expensive for us, and River Place lacks the ammenitites (namely community pools) that we enjoy. That's why we chose Steiner.

Right, because there aren't any Targets, HEB's or other chains located anywhere else in town; they are all near Steiner Ranch.

I didn't say we weren't having a drought. I have a ranch, with animals, and pastures, I'm more than well aware of the fact that we are, more aware than most folks who live in cities, out of necessity - I remember that from when I did live in Austin, and we still have property there.

It was the five years I was questioning, and also wondering about Inner Space Caverns and how they appeared after the floods.

And, yes, greater growth does mean greater demand on the aquifer, that can't be denied. Sooner or later the well will run dry (ours already has, and I'm not having it dug deeper until the drought IS over, FWIW).

They are everywhere, that is the point I was making based on the post that Steiner only had non chain stores. Duh!

Maybe I misunderstood. The post made it seem as though Steiner was overrun with more chain stores than other areas. In fact, the closest chain store is about 2 miles OUTSIDE of Steiner. Of all the stores/businesses actually IN Steiner, none are chains.

I like the views from Steiner and how close it is to the lake. I worked off 183, I'd probably live there too. Just out of curiousity, isn't there a pool in River Place? I could have sworn I'd been to a party there, but maybe not.
