This isn't accurate, they can compress themselves to thickness of a credit card so they can slide under most doors.

Saw my first scorpion tonight. It was about two inches long and was hanging out on my back patio. I've been in my new house for about one month, and I expected I'd see one eventually. I took its picture and then it promptly ran off the cement into the grass (and darkness). I don't mind having them outside, but I hope they stay out there! I am worried about my dog though, I have a tiny chihuahua that weighs about three whole pounds, and I'm worried what will happen if she gets stung while running around in the yard.

I saw a scorpion for the first time in our new house in Circle C. (It is not a "new" house, but new to us.) It was dead, right in front of the door from the laundry room to the garage, and flat, as though someone had stepped on it. I'm sure it was me, so I am glad that I don't go around barefoot much these days. It was reinforcement to make sure that I do have on my flip flops, at least, when I go into the garage.

I was cleaning out a closet a while back and found a dead scorpion in a large glass jar on the top shelf. He had to have dropped down from the ceiling into the jar. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

I was sitting in my brother's back yard under one of their large oaks talking with family when a breeze picked up and something hit me on my forehead, then my knee, then hit the ground with a smack. "That was a heavy leaf," I thought and looked down to see a very stunned and upset scorpion about 1" long.

My brother and husband's faces looked like this: . I'm not sure who was more stunned- the scorpion or me.

What I've been told is to keep the house bug free, the scorpions are looking for insects. Also, if you have them in your bed, put your bed frame feet in mason jars so they can't climb up and keep your bed sheets from touching the ground.

Thanks for the reminder on the bedsheets. We found one crawling on our kitchen floor this morning, it's the second one in two months so I guess we need to go back to being vigilant.

I hunt them at night with a blacklight since they glow. I'm on multiple acres so I have no hope of completely getting rid of them. When I first started a month ago, I was getting 20-30 a night. Now, I get 1 or 2.
