Well I have learned God Defend NZ (in Te Reo and English).
La Mars. I knew as a kid from French class.

goes to show you how uninspired I am about the kiwi-frenchy match.

The only boring bits in the world cup were the times Quade Cooper wasn't on the field.
What a constant source of entertainment he is and one of our most beloved exports.
He was a rubbish player when he was here and has earned himself a valued position in the Wallabies.
The crowd went wild every time he touched the ball...
Just a shame he could never hold on to it.
Even more hilarious is when he sized himself up to Richie Mc.... that was shear comedy brilliance!

OH...by the way
FOUR MORE YEARS!

And of course the fact they defeated Australia doesn't count as a non-choke?
Yes we rugby followers will watch the world cup because it's rugby, but there hasn't been much interest outside of the usual rugby crowd. I think part of the lack of interest was because of the time zone difference. The other also being that no other team other than NZ have been in credible form. If you look at the crowds for the highly anticipated Australia-New Zealand game (ie the ranked number one and two teams in the world), you'll notice 90%+ of the crowd were New Zealanders. It will be the same story when New Zealand take on France. Contrast that to the 2003 world cup when Australia played England in the final and it was split roughly equally.

NZ vs France rather a anti climax, as a Kiwi I don't really care if we loose to France as I wouldn't be able to understand there gloating anyway .

Cant see it happening if the AB's play even half as well as they did against Australia, I am not a huge rugby fan but its been a long time since I have seen the AB's utterly shut down the wallabies like that.

I think the All Blacks hype is myth, otherwise they would have had another WC win by now (last one was 1987). Then again, at least rugby is one common demonator that brings together's disparate communities and gives them something to do when they can't find a sheep

Gotta go.. trying to relearn the lyrics to La Marseillaise to sing on Friday.
It's amazing how much the All Blacks get pumped up in NZ, yet they always fall flat when the big one comes around.

While I have never grasped all the technicalities of rugby union, which I prefer to league, I have always supported the Crusaders and Highlanders and been to a number of matches and it's a worthy experience.

The World Cup I think has fallen flat in New Zealand. People have gotten amped up over the past few years over it, spent tons of money, businesses geared up for it and when it came down to it, the hordes of foreign tourists they expected has not met expectations.

1.1 million fans attended the games. Not bad in a country of 4.5 million. NZ did a great job. Wish I was on Queen St right now.

Attendance records were broken.

Hmm.. maybe but it seemed the buzz faded out and there were plenty of reports about business not being what they thought it would.

Hmmm
It was wonderful wanneroo. The opening ceremony was world class, the games were fantastic and the final was a nail biting cliff hanger.

Sure some businesses didn't get the customers they wanted ...but many of them were aiming to seriously over-charge so perhaps fair enough

I love when the French send their A team. They almost pulled off a famous victory. The AB's were seriously lucky to get out of that. And I had the French to win at $7.50!
