But I think it's worth noting that the doping scandals in baseball, the strike/lockout in hockey, and the various troubles of football at both the college and pro levels has cast a similar pall over those venues. I can't offer an answer to the apparent "induced blandness" of all professional sport, but there ought to be enough tradition to build upon and weather the storm until the next big shakeup.
With all of the drug scandals, women beating, knocking 10girls up in a weekend, dog fighting, strikes/lockouts, etc in other sports, NASCAR hasn't had to deal with this crap. Those things are all turn offs to fans. You test positive for anything banned by NASCAR, you're GONE. You HAVE to go through THEIR rehab program and be subjected to tests whenever they say or you're banned for life. They don't give second chances. They can't afford to in their sport. You can kill dozens of people. Even if one isn't a fan, you do have to give them credit for the absolute zero policy. If baseball took a stance like this, they'd gain fans and probably have someone inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
The squabbles over pay - strikes, lockouts, etc - are such bull. Hard to have ANY sympathy for someone who's making $20 mill over 5 years. It's a TOTAL turn off. The egos are as big as the stadiums.
NASCAR is for the ignorant. It is a shame its one of the largest sports in the US.
No, your post shows ignorance. Gets you right on my ignore list so I don't have to read your ignorant posts any more. Thanks for the heads up.
